A Creussen pewter-mounted stoneware tankard or Apostelkrug, applied with the Twelve Apostles in low relief and coloured with bright enamels, beneath a white band bearing their names, the handle applied with a lion mask, the pewter mounts with traces of gilding, late 17th century, the handle broken and reglued, 23.5cm. Cf. David Gaimster, German Stoneware, p274 for a similar dated example.
