Political Interest: a large Staffordshire pearlware bust of Sir Frances Burdett, well modelled wearing a blue jacket and raised on a marbled plinth, the base inscribed 'S.F.B'. Some good restoration. c.1820, 42cm. Sir Frances Burdett, 1770-1844, was an MP from 1807-37 and was attacked for his radical views. He was imprisoned twice, once in 1810 and again in 1820 for speaking out against war with France, political corruption and flogging in the army.
