A good Meissen model of a lady of the Mops

A good Meissen model of a lady of the Mops, standing with a large crinoline dress and two pug dogs, raised on a rectangular flared plinth, crossed swords mark. One finger chipped. 19th century, 27.5cm. Many different porcelain pug dogs, 'Mops' in German, were modelled at Meissen for members of the order of the pug, 'Der Mopsorden', a secret society formed by German C atholics (male and female) excluded form the Freemasons after 1736.
