A press-moulded glass jug commemorating the Spanish-American war late 19th century, moulded with a portrait of Admiral George Dewey and the RSS Olympia, between military and patriotic emblems, 23cm.
The war with Spain was popular with the American citizens at the time. The situation began in Cuba which had been unhappy under Spanish rule and resulted in revolution erupting in 1868. This rebellion, which lasted for ten years, was finally repressed in 1878.
