A medieval Spanish maiolica floor tile, c.1420-50, of elongated hexagonal form, painted in blue with an banner inscribed 'fes be' (translating to 'do good'), within stylized leaf scrolls and flowerheads, some glaze loss, 22.8cm.
By repute from the Chapel of San Jeronimo at the Convent of la Concepcion Francisca in Toledo. Cf. The Getty Museum, No. 84.DE.747 for a tile panel featuring similar tiles.
