A Staffordshire pearlware bust of John Locke, c.1800-20, modelled wearing a red cloak draped around his shoulders, raised on a socle with faux marble decoration, incised 'LOCKE' to the reverse, 19cm.

The English philosopher and physician, John Locke, was one of the key figures in the Age of Enlightenment whose writings influenced Voltaire and Rousseau.
