A large and rare Staffordshire salt-glazed stoneware dish, c.1755-60, the well printed in red with a Classical figure standing over another reclining on a bed, the wide rim elaborately pierced and moulded with basketweave panels and trellis designs picked out in yellow and turquoise, broken in half and repaired, 31.5cm.
Provenance: the Watney Collection.
The print is believed to be unrecorded but may be the work of Gravelot, whose prints were used on both pottery and enamels at this time.
