A Continental porcelain plate, 1st half 19th century, probably Stone, Coquerel and Le Gros, painted with three Classical maidens and a winged figure beneath a tree, the rim with a band of griffins and other Classical motifs in gilt and sepia, titled 'Le Pied de Boeuf' to the underside, the original mark erased, traces of a Vienna-style shield, 23.1cm.

The game of 'Cow's foot' involved counting as players placed their hands on top of one another. It was a popular subject for artists of the Empire era.
