A Worcester armorial teabowl and three saucers, c.1758, the teabowl painted in black with a shield

£200 - £300

£227

A Worcester armorial teabowl and three saucers, c.1758, the teabowl painted in black with a shield and later enamelled with the arms of Wilson impaling Langton, the reverse with the Tea Party, one saucer with the same print, another with L'Amour, the last with a landscape including a windmill, 12.5cm max. (4)

Cf. H Rissik-Marshall, Coloured Worcester Porcelain of the First Period, pl. 35, no. 754 for an example from the armorial service. A small number of these services were made by the factory using printed blanks and decorating the arms to order, possibly at external ateliers such as that of James Giles. However, the British Museum has a teapot stand from the same service and notes that the arms are incorrectly painted.
