A rare Chinese scroll painting by Xu Beihong (1895-1953)

A rare Chinese scroll painting by Xu Beihong (1895-1953), painted in ink and colour with three geese pecking at fruit, two artist seals, one inscribed 'Dong Hai Wang Son', signed Xu Beihong and cyclically dated to spring 1930, 80cm. x 46cm. Provenance: given by Xu Beihong to the current owner's uncle, Alfred Bastien. Alfred Thodore Joseph Bastien attended the art academies of Gent and Brussels. He studied Courbet and Delacroix and was influenced by the impressionists. Bastien taught at the Brussels academy where he became Director in 1928.
