Two miniature Chelsea seals c.1755-60
Two miniature Chelsea seals c.1755-60, one of a seated nun, the other of a lady leaning against a pillar, and a Continental scent bottle and stopper modelled as a sleeping lady with a large dog, all titled in French, one seal mounted with gilt and mother of pearl, 8cm max. (3)
Provenance: from the collection of Sister Wendy Beckett. She says of the seals, "I'm especially fond of the demure little nun proclaiming love conquers all, but the secular counterpart is also delightful".
