A rare dated Siegburg cylindrical tankard, the tapering body moulded with three vertical panels, the central panel with the arms of J and dated 1574, flanked by two further armorial shields. A small footrim chip. 24.8cm. Cf. D Gaimster, German Stoneware 1200-1900, p.181 for a tankard of similar form also moulded with the arms of J and dated 1573.
