the brass eight day, quarter repeating movement with a silvered platform escapement, striking the hours on a single gong and the quarters on two gongs, the backplate stamped with 'HJ' flanking a bird and the serial number '11439', on a white enamelled dial with black Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, in a gorge case with a large rectangular top viewing window and four bevelled glass panes, the underside with a lever inscribed 'Full Striking', 'Silent' and 'Quarters'
