with a fine scrolled, cut and gilt edged paper design of three hearts, two with linen centres and one with a hair sample together with two further hair samples, mounted beneath a crown and inside a scrolling border, intertwined with a red, white and blue cotton thread, the corners with the initials 'R, M, M, S' the underside of the cover inscribed in ink 'Blood & Hair of King James 2d. Blood & Hair of the Queen and Hair of ye Princes'
