A pair of George II brass candlesticks by George Grove, each with a knopped stem and a domed base, the underside with a twist-up ejection mechanism, with a butterfly handle and stamped 'GEO. GROVE', 18.5cm high. (2)

Provenance: The estate of the late John F. Braund.

George Grove was active between 1748-1768 and was based in Birmingham. See Rupert Gentle and Rachael Field, Domestic Metalware 1640-1820, p.147, pl.84-85 for similar candlesticks by Grove.
