A Mamluk copper alloy canteen, of octagonal form, the lid with a dual purpose handle / foot, all over decorated with scrolling leaves, with rondels of calligraphy and hatched designs and palmettes, the underside of the lid with an Armenian inscription, Egypt or Syria, 15th century, 24.2cm high, 42.5cm wide.
