Furniture, Works of Art and Clocks
Wednesday 4th July 2018. Starts at 10:00am
The 4th July sale showcases a good cross section of antique furniture and collectable works of art. We have a strong Oak & Country section with period oak mixed with treen, early metalware and folk art. The highlight of the 18th century furniture is a George III mahogany serpentine commode from a Private Collection in the Cotswolds. Other highlights include an impressive pair of Napoleon III ormolu cherub twelve-light candelabra on pedestals and a Charles II marquetry cabinet on stand. The sale also features some wonderful ivories including a good late 17th century German relief plaque, an Anglo-Indian sadeli games table and a collection of Indian fruit, spices and vegetables. Finally, the works of art section is led by a very good quality Victorian games compendium in untouched condition and a Roman mosaic plaque depicting the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli.
