A bronze group of Nessus abducting Deianira, in the style of Giambologna after a model by Antonio Susini, Nessus the centaur rearing whilst carrying Deianira aloft, 18th / 19th century, 16.5in (41.8cm) h, 16.25in (41.2cm) w, mounted on a breakfront Siena marble plinth base, the bronze and plinth 23.5in (59.6cm) h. A break to the left hind leg. Provenance: The collection of the banker F. A. Konig (1867-1940) of Tyringham House, Buckinghamshire and thence by descent to the present owner.
