with a penwork box, the lid decorated with three figures on a terrace before an Italianate landscape, with a plaque inscribed 'The Portable Diorama by I. Clark, Published by Samuel Leigh, 18 Strand, London, the underside with a printed label 'Directions for Displaying the Views in the Portable Diorama' and a Milliken Bookseller's Dublin label, containing a volume of 'Clark's Amateur's Assistant or Instructions in Sketching from Nature, Drawing, Tinting, Transparent Painting & c. & c.' and twelve hand-coloured aquatint prints of skies, Italianate lake and Grand Tour views
