Catalogue Note
Niccolo Bazzanti was the son of Pietro Bazzanti, who opened his art gallery on the Lungarno Corsini in 1815. Niccolo won an award in 1822 for two sketches at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1834 he was commissioned to sculpt along with other artists a series of the 'Illustrious Tuscan Men' for the Uffizi Lodge.
