A late 19th century Italian oval micromosaic plaque of the 'Doves of Pliny', with a malachite border, 10.4 x 13.7cm, in a carved Florentine giltwood frame.
This micromosaic is after the ancient floor mosaic found in Hadrian's Villa in 1737. Which is itself a copy of a lost mosaic by the ancient Greek Sosos of Pergamon.
