A carved and painted wood model of S.S. Irex, with wooden sails to a planked hull and carved figurehead, on a naturalistic plinth base, late 19th / early 20th century, 52.5cm high, 71cm wide, 23.3cm deep,.

S.S. Irex was built by J. Reid & Co. of Port Glasgow, and launched on 10th October 1889 and was wrecked off The Needles on it's maiden voyage to Rio de Janeiro.
