A George IV fifteen inch terrestrial library globe by J. & W. Newton, of twelve hand-coloured and engraved gores, inscribed 'NEWTON'S New and Improved TERRESTRIAL GLOBE, Acurately delineated from the observations of the most esteemed Navigators and Travellers To the Present Time, MANUFACTURED BY J. & W. Newton, No. 66. Chancery Lane, London Published 1818 with additions to 1823', with two brass engraved hour dials and a meridian ring, with an engraved horizon, the mahogany stand inlaid with ebonised stringing, with a spiral reeded stem on swept tripod legs and scroll feet united by turned stretchers, centred with a glazed compass with a steel needle, on brass castors, 102cm high.
