After the antique. A late 19th century bronze Grand Tour figure of the Borghese Gladiator, standing on a marble plinth, 27cm high.
Although known as the Borghese Gladiator, the original marble is in fact based on a fighting warrior and it dates from 100BC. Since its discovery in the early 17th century at Antium, the Borghese Gladiator has been praised as an aesthetic male nude in motion.
