John Henry Foley R. A. (Irish 1818-1874). A 19th century bronzed electrotype figure of Oliver Goldsmith, the writer standing holding a book in his left hand and a pen in his right, the square base with impressed marks 'J H FOLEY RA SCUL LONDON' and 'ELKINGTON CO FOUNDERS', 50.5cm high.

This present lot is a reduced version of a larger sculpture erected in 1864 outside Trinity College in Dublin.
