A mid 19th century French tulipwood, kingwood and marquetry bombe commode, in Louis XV style, the moulded edge serpentine marble top above two drawers, with gilt brass scrolling mounts and conforming sides, with keeled angles to pied-de-biche sabots, stamped 'P. Bernard, Maitre Ebenifte', the mounts stamped G.P. beneath a star', 31.75in (80.6cm) h, 41.5in (105.2cm) w, 20.5in (52cm) d. Marble top with repairs, locks replaced, losses to veneer. P. Bernard is recorded at 4, Passage des Postes from 1856 to 1876.
