stamp of Mark Fothergill & Sons, Bristol, (fl. c.1793-1825), or a successor, under the base, no other marks suggesting used privately rather than in trade, the rim cut at manufacture to insert a pouring spout, the lower body appears to come from the same moulds used to make the lower bodies of Bristol conical measures, the tongued thumbrest handle with ball terminal
