A James I oak and japanned cabinet, with painted chinoserie decoration with a black ground in silver and gilt, the pedimented top with a hinged panelled cover and a panelled front and sides, above a pair of rectangular doors, painted to the inside and revealing a central door and eight drawers, the top concealing secret drawers, gesso wood handles, the front with a gilt ground and traces of scroll decoration, English or Dutch circa 1620, 28.5in (72.5cm) h, 24.5in (62cm) w, 11.25in (28.5cm) h, on a later stand.
