A late Victorian satinwood and marquetry inlaid commode, inlaid stringing with kingwood cross banding, the top with a wide band of ribbon tied florets and husks to a concave and bowfront, above an inlaid frieze with applied lozenges, centred a drawer fitted a brass lock stamped ' HOBBS & CO, LONDON ,' to a pair of doors inlaid classical vases, enclosing an adjustable shelf, flanked by urns and entwined husk panels, on short square tapering legs, 36.25in (92cm) h, 48.25in (122.5cm) w, 19.75in (50.2cm) d. Provenance: Holywell Hall, Stamford, Lincs.
