A carved walnut and brass mounted model of a K Class submarine, raised on brass supports to a plinth base, with a modern case, 6in (15.2cm) h, 18in (46cm) w. (2) Only 17 of the ill-fated K Class were made between 1915-1931. They were steam powered and at the time of their introduction they were the largest and fastest submarines in the world. However they were beset with problems culminating in the Battle of May Island when 2 submarines were lost after a collision with a battle cruiser.
