After Donatello (Italian 1386-1466). A large late 19th century plaster relief of the dead Christ tended by angels, painted plaster, 81.2 x 115cm.
The original marble panel by Donatello and his one time partner, Michelozzo, can be found in Victoria & Albert Museum, London, museum number 7577-1861.
Provenance: From the collection of Sir Frank Brangwyn, his home The Jointure, Ditchling, East Sussex. The house and contents were purchased on his death by the father of the current vendor and amongst them was the present lot.
