A cavalry sketch board, satinwood, boxwood and brass mounted, the top inset a compass above 'VERNER'S PATENT No 1862,' with slitted brass side bars, the reverse with inclinometer and leather wrist strap, 9.75 x 7in (24.6 x 18cm) in a leather pouch, inscribed 'H.A.R.MAY ARTISTS. R.V,' and two brass cased field compasses., with leather cases. (3)
