A mahogany silver box

A mahogany silver box, the hinged lid with a brass campaign style handle inscribed 'William Scrope ESQR', to a part velvet lined interior with a circular paper label for 'Rundell, Bridge And Rundell', originally with a tray, with paper label 'Defert Spoons', 5in (12.8cm) h, 10in (25.5cm) w, 8.75in (21.8cm) d. Paper label spotted, lacking lock. William Scrope (1772-1852) was an artist and sportsman. He was a direct descendent of the first Baron Scrope of Bolton, lord treasurer to King Edward III. William inherited the family property at Castle Coombe, Wiltshire in 1787.
