After Charles Antoine Coysevox (French 1640-1720). A 19th century bronze model of the crouching Venus with a draped turtle, mounted on a rouge griotte marble plinth, 35.7cm high.
The original marble was delivered in 1686 for Louis XIV to grace the Chateau de Marly. Coysevox was pleased with his creation that he inscribed the piece Phidias as well as his own name.
