An early Victorian mahogany Royal campaign commode or thunderbox, the hinged needlework seat decorated with a beadwork Royal Coat of Arms, with a push button mechanism revealing a hinged pot aperture, on brass mounted screw-off tapering legs and brass caps and castors, stamped 'COPE'S PATENT STRONG', the underside with a paper inventory label for 'WINDSOR CASTLE ROOM 202 NO. 53 1866', 52cm high, 51cm wide, 51.5cm deep.
