An early 19th century yew wood boxed writing slope, the hinged lid inset with a white metal plaque engraved with a griffin crest, the initials 'K S' and the motto 'ICTUS NON VICTUS', probably for the Shute family, the interior with a leather writing surface, compartments for pen and ink and secret drawers, with a base drawer and sunken brass handles, on a later stand, 56.3cm high, 52cm wide, 29.5cm deep.
