An early 19th century sharkskin covered travelling writing box, with silver mounts and hinged lid opening to letter rack and three compartments housing a drawing compass, Book of Common Prayer published 1679, a rayskin covered notebook with four ivory leaves, a seal in treen case, a perpetual calendar, a folding pair of scissors and a silver penknife, all silk lined, together with an inkwell and pen holder, 3in (7.5cm) h, 12in (30.5cm) w, 9in (23cm) d.
