each with a rectangular plate, the frame decorated with 'C' scrolls, flower and winged cherubs, the pedimented surmount with billowing clouds (2)

Purchased by the present vendor's family from H. W. Keil Ltd., Broadway, 19th November 1976.

Literature

The present lot shares an affinity with mirrors produced in Germany and Holland in the early 18th century. See Graham Child, World Mirrors 1650-1900, pp.222-23, figs. 458 & 459 for a mirror in the manner of Friedrich Unteutsch and a Dutch overmantel with similar cherub decoration.
