A rectangular cut glass 'Davis Automatic Patent' double inkstand, with chamfered edges and copper mounts, each inscribed 'THE DAVIS AUTOMATIC INKSTAND PAT. MARCH 19TH OCT. 22 D 1889. FEB. 14TH 1893. NEW YORK', late 19th / early 20th century, 6.4cm high, 16.3cm wide.

The 'Davis Automatic Inkstand' patent covered the exposure of the ink to air to reduce ink loss.
