A Louis XVI tulipwood and marquetry table a ecrire by Francois-Gaspard Teune, the top inset a leather surface and with a brass gallery above a frieze drawer with laurel swags, the drawer stamped twice 'F.G. TEUNE JME', with a conforming back and sides, the square tapering legs with crenellated gilt metal collars on brass caps and castors, the underside also stamped 'F.G. TEUNE JME', 27.75in (70.2cm) h, 25.75in (65.5cm) w, 16.25in (41.1cm) d. Restored crack to top, one castor loose. F¦rancois Gaspard Teune was made master in 1766. He trained in the workshop of his uncle Jean Popsel (maitre in 1755). Together with Popsel, Teune collaborated on the manufacture of furniture for the marchand-ebeniste Pierre II Migeon.
