A 19th century bronze candlestick

A 19th century bronze candlestick, after the antique, the triform base raised on paw feet to winged lion supports, rams' heads supporting storks, the stem decorated foliage and birds, to a flame sconce, 15.75in (40cm) h. Stem reduced. The prototype is the Farnese marble tripod candelabrum which is in the Museo Nazionale, Naples, however the flaming finials have been added in the manner of Thomas Hope's candelabrum illustrated in T.Hope 'Household Furniture and Interior Decoration', 1807.
