Provenance
Verbal communication with previous vendor - 'This coffer came from my mothers' Herefordshire family, the Jays of Litley Court and Derndale, post 1830. The Jays were connected by marriage to the Carpenters, Taylors and James families, all county gentry. We always liked to think Thomas Carpenter of Tillington Court Hereford, may have owned it’.
