Catalogue Note.
Highly similar court cupboards, which are also unusually small and with very similar carved decoration are recorded, see for example Christie's, South Kensington, 1st November 2011, lot 139. Undoubtedly the cupboards are from the same workshop. Ornate iron strap hinges to the upper door and scroll-shaped hinges to the lower door are also present on the similar examples.
