An 18th century colonial brazilwood drop-leaf table, the oval top above plain end friezes, on turned club legs to pointed pad feet, 27.75in (70.5cm) h, 43.5in (110.5cm) open, 45in (114cm) d. Brazilwood trees are small trees with a hard wood, having similar qualities as padouk. The narrow boarded top and simple turned legs convey the size of the tree and its difficulty in working.
