James Heffernan (1788 - 1847). A marble bust, possibly Miss E. W. Hill, the verso signed 'J HEFFERNAN Sculp LONDON 1825', 24.5in (62cm) h. James Heffernan was born in Londonderry and came to London in his early 20's and soon entered Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey's studio, where he remained until Chantrery's death in 1841. He exhibited at the RA between 1816-1830 and in 1825 he showed a bust of Miss E.W.Hill.
