Catalogue Note
This fine library table with its figured amboyna top, brass foliate marquetry and burr oak base bears all the hallmarks of the cabinetmaker and designer George Bullock (d.1818). The brass inlay of trefoiled sprigs on the top of this table was very much favoured by Bullock and appears on a sofa table commissioned by the 4th Duke of Buccleuch directly from Bullock for Boughton Hall, Northamptonshire. It can also be seen on a pier table and mirror supplied to Robert Ferguson, M.P. (d.1840) for Raith House, Kirkcaldy, Fife, the mirror was sold in these rooms 21st April 2021 for £16,000 (hammer). It also appears on the frieze of a pair of cabinets in the collection of the Duke Abercorn at Barons Court.
