the brass eight day movement with four turned pillars, with an anchor escapement, striking on a bell, the arched twelve inch dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the arch centred with a signature rondel, inscribed 'William Kipling London', with gilt Rococo dolphin and female mask spandrels, the red lacquer case decorated in gilt with chinoiserie scenes, with figures, horses and buildings, the hood with fretwork spandrels and turned columns, 220.3cm high
