the brass drum eight day movement with an outside countwheel, striking on a bell, the circular enamel dial with Arabic numerals with an inner calendar dial, signed 'Detour A Paris', with pierced gilt hands, the case surmounted with a recumbent semi-naked classical maiden, possibly Ariadne, drinking from a chalice, supported by a pair of winged cherubs riding seated rams, with grapevine swags, the moulded marble plinth with ormolu bands, on toupie feet, with a later giltwood base
