An iron pole-axe head, mounted on a mahogany plaque with brass mounts inscribed ' A MEDIEVAL IRON POLE AXE HEAD FOUND AT THE SITE OF THE BATTLE OF BOSWORTH UPON WHICH RICHARD III LAST PLANTAGENET KING OF ENGLAND WAS SLAIN. 22 AUGUST 1485' 'DEFEATED AT THE BATTLEFIELD BY HENRY TUDOR FATHER OF KING HENRY VIII KING OF ENGLAND', the pole-axe head: 15¾in (40cm) wide, the plaque: 22½ x 17¾in (57 x 45cm).
