A JAPANESE KAKIEMON DISH
EDO PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY
Richly decorated in dark blue, cyan, iron-red and yellow enamels with a dense design of two ho-ho birds in a luxuriant garden, with large peonies and chrysanthemum issuing from rockwork around them, the border to the rim enclosing four smaller birds flying or perched amongst foliage, scrolling tendrils and further blooms, 21.3cm.
